Same is true with even Windows if you're using databases. Keep in mind with OS X Server - or any other server for that matter ! you *can NOT* safely clone an OS that is in operation. The other apps may make this easier, but the above is what I trust. Or else create an image, scan for ASR and restore to a disk of a different size, and the image will only be the size (of the data) used from the source. Select the source and "restore" to the destination, which must the the same size or larger. You could boot into recovery mode with 10.7 and later to clone the OS drive to another.
